“Am I being tracked?” Maintaining Driver Privacy within Last Mile Delivery

There are a number of software options available for businesses who want to improve their last mile. Some focus on routing, others just the customer experience but at Radaro, we are focussed on bringing the three key components of the last mile together – the business, the driver and the customer.

To do this effectively, Data Privacy across all levels must be a core principle of software design.

Across all levels of Radaro, from conception, to development and implementation, Privacy at all stages is paramount to Radaro’s core principles.

By developing an organisation-wide awareness of privacy, a privacy by design approach shifts the focus to preventing privacy-related issues, rather than only complying with privacy laws.

The Driver (or technician) plays a crucial role in the last mile, so it’s important to keep their privacy needs top of mind, which will be different to that of the end consumer.

Driver privacy and the way we handle sensitive location data is key to our efforts in upholding data integrity.

Radaro takes this very seriously and we have several features to protect the Driver and their privacy.

Visibility within the Management Portal

The driver location is only visible within the Radaro Management portal while the Driver is actively working. When the Driver ends their shift, they vanish from the map.

Visibility to customers

Only when the Driver commences a customer job, will the customer be able to see the Driver location via their live tracking link. Once the job is completed, the customer has no further access to track the driver.

Maintaining iOS and Android compliance

Late 2021, iOS announced changes to their policies regarding an App Users ability to delete their account from within the app. Radaro has updated our technology accordingly to remain fully compliant with both iOS and Android requirements.
